Do
you ever ask yourself, am I doing what I really want to
do? ; am I taking good care of myself while achieving
the goals I have set for myself; do you give yourself
permission to re-evaluate the impact of what you are
doing?; do you feel like you are really making a
difference for yourself and others? I ask these
questions of myself constantly and it has helped me to
re- shape my life, literally.
I have been
a social worker over the past 30 years. Like many people
who pick careers to help others I started taking better
care of others than myself and then couldn’t help anyone
effectively. Bringing exercise back into my life was one
component. Moving forward and committing to doing
something physical everyday took a mental component that
I didn’t have before. I have tried so many different
programs that have a behavior modification component
that helped but that still wasn’t enough. Life Coaching
was the ticket for me. It is a model that is
individualized around you and your goals. It lets you
work at your own pace, celebrate your success,
reevaluate your goals and give yourself permission to
take risks.
